Selected and bred for human consumption and processing, Paradise (C. cordiformis x C. ovata) is a tree that produces “large, low-astringency nut; mother tree is demonstrating consistent heavy annual cropping”. Yellowbud naturally hybridizes with Shagbark hickory. These crosses are some of our most promising leads for developing vigorous, precocious, and reliable oil-nut trees.
Soil: From dry ridges to marshy bottomlands, Yellowbud seems to be at home almost anywhere. Can handle periodically wet soils, but not constantly wet soils.
Zone: 3-9 (The hardiest of all hickories)
