Helianthus maximilliani (Maximillian Sunflower)

Maximilian’s Sunflower is very showy and towers above surrounding vegetation when in bloom. May spread vigorously, and therefore may not be suitable for small landscape plantings.

Landscape size: 4-6 feet

Bloom Color: Yellow rays with dusky yellow center

Bloom Time: August – September

Growing Conditions

  • Light Requirement: Full sun, Part shade
  • Soil Moisture: Dry to medium

 

Attracts a number of bees, butterflies, and moths.

One of the larval host plants of the Bordered Patch.
